This class is a good start for any dog
over 5 months old.  Please do not
register your puppy under 5 months
old for this class.

Learning shouldn't hurt-
I do not use choke collars, pinch
collars, shock collars or heavy
corrections.  You are there to TEACH
your dog, not force him!  ALL dogs can
learn without the use of pain as a
motivator.

You will learn to teach your dog:
  • Sit
  • Down
  • Stay
  • Come
  • Stand
  • Leave It
You will also get lots of tips for
behavior modification

Obedience Classes
Puppy Classes
You cannot ‘undo’ the first 5 months of
your puppy’s life.  These months are the
most critical time for shaping your dog's
future temperament, character, and
behavior habits. If you miss out on
socializing your puppy during this period
you cannot simply go back and fix the
problems later.  All puppies need puppy
class!

This class will address:
  • Socialization to other dogs &
    people
  • Obedience Training
  • Housebreaking information
  • Exposure to strange sights,
    sounds, and touches
  • and a million other skills needed
    to live in the world!

If you are concerned about your puppy
being too young or not fully vaccinated,
please see
The American Veterinary
Society of Animal Behavior's position
statement on puppy socialization

Classes are held at Riverside Drive
Animal Care Center, 6924 Riverside
Drive Dublin, OH 43017

    minutes long

Basic Beginner Classes
Novice Competition Classes
Novice Competition classes are for people
who are interested in refining their dog's
obedience skills and for those who are
interested in competing in Obedience with
their dogs.  If this sounds like something
you are interested in, please contact me at
nobaddogs@wideopenwest.com
Custom and private obedience lessons
If for some reason you can not take one of my classes with your dog, but would still like to work on his obedience, or are interested in
working on something specific, then I offer private lessons.  I strongly urge you to take a class if it is at all possible, as it is a great
benefit to your dog to learn in the distractions of the other dogs (life is full of distractions!).  And I feel so strongly about puppy classes,
that if you can not make my classes, please contact me for other classes in the area that I recommend.   My fee for private obedience
lessons at your home is $35/hour.  If this sounds like something you are interested in, please contact me at
nobaddogs@wideopenwest.com

NOTE: Private obedience lessons are not In-Home Behavior consultations. Private Obedience lessons are strictly for teaching
sit, down, stay, come, heel, and various other skills.  For more information on In-Home Behavior consultations,

Teddy
CT Teddy B, U-UD, CGC,
RTD
Teddy's mom met me at an
event and told me that she
was 'untrainable' and that
she would require a shock
collar.  Teddy was the #1
Mixed Breed Open dog in
the country for 2008.  She
was in the top 5 Open Dogs
from 2003-09, and Utility
Dogs in '07.  She also spent
many years as a Therapy
Dog at Children's Hospital...
all without force... and
definitely NOT a shock
collar.
Murphy
Murphy Basinger, RN,
CD, CGC, RTD
If you know anything about
Beagles, you could imagine
what dedication it would
take to have your Beagle
earn his CD!
Fritz
JR's on the Fritz, CD
Fritz was found in a local
shelter, his story said
something about failing
police dog training.  My
husband, Roger, started
talking to him in German,
and Fritz LOVED it.  We
don't own Fritz, we just love
him as if he is our own.
Roger went on to put a CD
on him.
Monty
Montgomerie Lyle Meckler, CD, CGC
I met Monty's mom after Monty saw a
squirrel and pulled her down... resulting in
her needing knee surgery. She had been
told by trainers that she is not hard enough
on him, that she needs to be more forceful.
I told her she needs to train him.  Monty has
since earned his CD, CGC, and is a
Therapy Dog... but one of his greatest
accomplishments is his AMAZING Freestyle
Dancing!
Gabi, UCD
Gabi started out in my Basic
Beginners Obedience
class.  She and her mom
loved it so much, they were
HOOKED.  Gabi went on to
earn her U-CD, and is now
training to for her CDX.
Zeus
MACH Schmidt's-GC
Catch A Falling Star at
LeMac, CD, MX, MXJ
Zeus' mom had competed
in obedience with her other
boxer, but came to me
saying that she wanted to
do this one right!  She felt
that her Heel was lacking
and wanted Zeus to fully
understand the exercise but
at the same time, use
positive training and a flat
buckle collar (no choke
chains!).  WELL, Zeus got
his CD with a third place
and a score of 194!!!! (out of
200) WOW.  Just qualifying
with a Boxer is something to
be proud of, but to place
and get in the 190's-
AMAZING!!!  Zeus' mom is
so very happy with her boy...
and I am sure he is pretty
happy with her!!!
Heel Class
Heel is one of the hardest things that
you will ever teach your dog.  You are
asking him to ignore the world around
him and walk at your side on a loose
leash.  For this reason, I have made
this skill a class of it's own.

It is recommended that you take the
Basic Beginner Class before this, but it
is not mandatory.  I do ask that your
dog have a solid sit/stay and down/stay
before entering this class (meaning
that your dog can do a 5 minute sit or
down stay, with various distractions
going on, with you across the room)
